Peer to peer evaluation

Peer-to-peer evaluation is necessary if thousands of students enlist in a MOOC.

Because peers are not teachers, many multimodal evaluation schemes must be provided in order to minimise mis-evaluations, and the quality of the evaluator must also be taken into account into the evaluation of a participant.

In POEMs, a 3 phases evaluation scheme is proposed for each pedagogic unit:

  • Answering (and evaluation) of 3 questions based on re-captcha principle (two validated questions and one question from a peer)
  • Formulating a new question on the Pedagogic Unit and providing an answer (high pedagogic interest)
  • Evaluating 9 answers from other students
