The modelling of biological networks is attracting large research efforts worldwide. Nevertheless, most models focus on a single scale:
- gene regulatory networks
- 3D structure modelling of proteins and macromolecular complexes
- protein-protein interaction networks
- metabolic pathways
- a single cell
The major challange now is to combine these separate models into an integrated, hierarchical model of the complete system and its interactions with the environment.
