Implementation

Everything starts with the synthesis of the elementary bricks to be assembled in a bottom-up fashion. The bricks are functionalized/programmed to allow them to interact and assemble and, more generally, induce a higher level structure or behavior.

For instance, chemists will predominantly use potentially reversible bonds, while computer scientists will use an exchange of information between individuals.

Implementation needs to initiate the system, by adding some energy and, in some cases, maintaining them in a state out of equilibrium.
